We love our shows so much we created a blog for it.
athenawj is a writer-mama-artist-editor-blue ribbon junkie who can't get enough of her favorite t.v. shows (and the ridiculous amount of videotapes in her house proves it). She's owned various t.v.s for awhile, but only recently discovered the joys of OnDemand.
merserene is a professional-turned-student who has an unhealthy addiction to some shows. She bought her first TV last year and is particularly fond of old reruns and British comedy.

Because it's summer time and most show are on rerun, this blog hasn't seen much love... But I must spread the word on one show that I've been consistently watching this summer: "Hit Me Baby One More Time." Now, the show has got nothing to do with Britney, except maybe for an occasional cover or two, but its basic premise is this: Each week, bring back 5 groups/singers/blasts from the past to perform their hits, usually from the 80s though some early 90s, and then have them cover songs being sung by today's artists. The studio audience then votes for its favorite of the night, and whoever wins gets $20,000 donated to his/her charity of choice.
As a child of the 80s but a later convert to 80s music, the show's been a treat. Now I get to associate faces with some one-hit wonders, or just to learn about groups that I had never even heard of. Part of the fascination comes from seeing some of these folks 20 years after their prime; while some have aged gracefully and still rock as well as they did way back when, some others have really shown their age or don't sound too great. It's always interesting to see them cover "recent" artists like Dido, Britney, Maroon 5, Norah Jones, Ryan Cabrera, Kelly Clarkson, Blink 182, etc. (holy crap! I don't listen to any of those people except Dido and maybe Norah; I'm missing a lot more names they've covered but it's because I know zilch about most of the recent artists.), though some of the renditions sounded plain awful when these 80s artists put their own spins on them.
But how great is it to see bands like Tommy Tutone, The Knacks, and Wang Chung rock out to some of the greatest anthems of the 80s?!
Thursday nights, 9pm/8 central. Be there or be square!
